Would you like me to accompany you on the bank?

Perhaps...

...you'd like to take your first trip to the Wye and need some assistance with the choice of beat and with swim/fish location on the day?

...you'd like to try and catch a barbel on the float and need help with suitable locations and tactics?

...you'd like to do an overnight session for tench at Linear Fisheries but are not quite quite sure how to go about it or find the idea of a first trip to Linear a bit daunting?

...you'd like to trot for chub on the Warwickshire Avon using the stick float or waggler?

...you'd like to rove for chub and roach on a tiny river?

...you're an experienced angler wanting to try a new technique?

..you're new to river fishing and are in need of some tips and advice, even one-to-one instruction?

My guiding/tuition sessions are about you having the best possible day and achieving your targets.

I derive immense satisfaction from helping anglers accomplish their ambitions and will do my utmost to ensure that happens on your session.

Whether you are after a personal best, want to learn a new method or catch your first fish using a new technique.

Locations for my guiding/tuition are the River Wye, Linear fisheries, the Warwickshire Avon and Warwickshir Stour

but other venues can be accommodated.

Most of my requests for guiding are for sessions on the Wye so I've detailed the following which will give you an idea what a typical booking would entail:-

Initial Communication & Discussion

In advance of the session and before booking we'll chat about your ambitions and targets for the day along with the gear, bait etc that will be required.  I'm happy to answer as many questions as you'd like to pose to ensure you are perfectly equipped and prepared for the fishing.

Where Will We Fish?

I'll recommend a beat based on your targets and also on your mobility.

Some beats have long walks/styles/steep banks to access the best swims whereas others have parking adjacent to the river.

For my guided sessions I use day ticket beats run by the Wye & Usk Foundation, booked through The Fishing Passport website.

Booking The Beat

Should your day require specific conditions eg for trotting I suggest we refrain from booking until as late as possible in an attempt to ensure conditions are perfect.  However, during busy times (summer and autumn) it may be necessary to book day tickets some time in advance to ensure we get the stretch/date required and take our chances on favourable conditions.

I'm happy to purchase the day tickets for our session (subject to prior receipt of the appropriate day ticket costs) or you can book them yourself should you wish and the cost of your booking will reflect this (see below).

The Day Of The Booking

On the day we'll meet at the beat's parking area, usually just before dawn to take full advantage of the whole day.

We'll walk the stretch and I'll recommend one or several swims based on river conditions and your targets.

I'll spend time with you and ensure you are fully conversant and happy with what you are doing.  During this time, if you'd like, I'll film you fishing for the Avon Angling YouTube vlog.  This is optional of course and entirely your choice.

At dusk we'll retire back to the cars for mutual back patting plus tea and medals.

Testimonials

Rather than reading testimonials from anglers who've experienced guiding days with me, why not watch the sessions for yourself...

Prices

River Wye Day Session

£150 for one angler including day ticket costs

(£100 excluding day ticket costs)

£200 for two anglers including day ticket costs

(£125 excluding day ticket costs)

I prefer to limit the day to one or two anglers as I feel I can then give you sufficient time and attention.

If you have a party larger than two, please contact me and we can discuss your requirements.

Warwickshire Avon Day Session

Fishing on the Warwickshire Avon comes into its own during the autumn and winter when there's some additional water on and some colour to the river.  However, there are swims which fish during the warmer months too making the Warwickshire Avon a wonderful year-round venue.

£100 per angler

Small River Day Session

Small river fishing on the Warwickshire Stour is best practised in the colder months when the vegetation both on the bank and in the river has died back making access easier and more practical.  In addition the smaller rivers are the first to become fishable again after floods and heavy rain making them an ideal target later in the season.

£100 per angler

Linear Fisheries Overnight Session

Standard overnight tench sessions at Linear run from 10am on day one until 6pm on day two.

Location - Manor Farm or Hunt's Corner lakes (your choice).

These lakes operate on a swim booking basis so we can choose our location in advance of the session.

This has its drawbacks as it eliminates watercraft on the day however it ensures we have access to our chosen swim(s) for the duration of our stay.

These are very busy lakes so prebooking well in advance is usually required.

£300 for one angler

£450 for two anglers

(These prices do not include day ticket costs)

Please feel free to contact me and we can have a chat about your requirements.
